The department also has strong ties with various other institutions in the region with similar commitments to public scholarship, such as the Duke Human Rights Intitiative; Duke Center for Documentary Studies; the Duke Global Health Institute; the Sanford Institute of Public Policy; and public scholarship and activist research initiatives at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
